About this Cook
Born in Cal USA, been living in Europe. What an education!
My favorite things to cook
Any type of dried beans - love to experiment. Love hot peppers (hubby does not like them!). Love BBQ and do a lot of slow cooking. Vacation in France so I have a strong French influence, but the Moroccan way of cooking is fun too. I will try anything once.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We used to love to dig for clams and make fish stew. No clams here but I get them when in France.
My cooking triumphs
Cooked a traditional Sudanese dinner once for a Sudanese family - it was good! My devils food cake or angel food cake will make anyone happy and my BBQ dinners are pretty good. Love cooking Mexican for large groups.
My cooking tragedies
Made a traditional Dutch fruit cake about 30 years ago. Could not cut it, had to soak it in fruit juice to be able to eat it (the day after) Never did figure out what I did wrong. Have not repeated the error though.

Tasty Spaghetti Sauce
This is very similar to my own spaghetti sauce recipe. I use only oregano and bay leaf, and add basil just before serving. Tip; add red wine to the meat/onion mixture and reduce for a wonderful flavor.

Beef Bourguignon I
The long marinade and addition of bacon is different that other recipies I have tried and sounds delicious. This I will make as soon as I can - can't wait for company to serve it.
