Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
These are good, but don't really taste any different than "regular" sugar cookies.

Easy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
I used 1lb beef...2 lb would have been overkill. Skipped mushrooms and oil, and flavor was good. Even my two-and-a-half year old ate it!

Cara's Creamy Stuffed Shells

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Will definitely make again. I used cream cheese straight out of the fridge and combined with drained beef. Everything was creamy in just a few minutes.

Ham, Potato, and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
I followed other reviewers' suggestions and used sharp cheddar instead of Velveeta and added a bit of broccoli. I took one bite and a huge pot of soup went down the drain...absolutely disgusting. It was so bad I'm not even sure I'd try it a second time with Velveeta, since I've already wasted so much time, food, and money.

I skipped the sauce and it was still very tasty.

Pennsylvania Dutch Corn Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
While this is not bland, it is not full of flavor either. Although I like hard boiled eggs, their flavor did not blend with the rest of the ingredients. This might be a once-a-year dish, definitely not a staple.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
This was too sweet, and I LOVE anything peanut butter/chocolate. Also, the base gets soft very quickly out of the refrigerator. Probably will not make again.

Mango Lassi II

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
This is spot on for taste, but I'm giving it a 4 because of the pulp. I was hoping for something smoother.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
I used "real" pumpkin and upped the spices a bit, and still found these very bland. If it weren't for the chocolate chips, they'd be pretty awful. They weren't dry, but they were a bit tough around the bottom. And they were 12 puny muffins, not regular size.

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

So delicious! Crispy outside and soft inside. Made many substitutions that others did...brown sugar, applesauce and whole wheat flour, and the result is excellent.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
This is great for a light taste with a hint of sweetness, but it wasn't as firm as I would have liked. I didn't trust it to hold up overnight so I put the cake in the fridge. If it had a stiffer texture I would have given 5 stars.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
I only had a can of cream of chicken with herbs on hand so I used that. It was a 5, but I imagine plain old cream of mushroom would have been much more bland, hence the 4 stars. Still good either way, shops were very tender after 1 hour at 375.

Spiced Yogurt Pound Cake

SO delicious! I follwed previous reviewer by adding more yogurt, less butter. Added heaping amounts of spices and it is delicious.

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
Yum! Four cups of cheese seemed like overkill, so I used one 2-cup package of monterey/cheddar. I skipped the onions and added a few sprinkles of red pepper. I used uncooked chicken breasts and baked for an hour at 350...perfect!

Hearty Ham Casserole

This needs something more, it's a bit bland. I added marjoram like others suggested, and probably should have added some garlic. Frozen cubed potatoes would have made this easier.

Philadelphia Style Butter Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
While this is very good, I cannot give it 5 stars because it is quite different than authentic butter cake from Philadelphia. The true thing has a much thinner crust and a much gooey-er top layer. You should have to eat it with a spoon.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
Very yummy. Only complaint is that the first few pieces ended up with way more garlic than the pieces at the end. Suggest just sprinkling the minced garlic after the chick is in the pan for more even seasoning.

Chicken and Black Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
I made this in a slow cooker and then used it as a filling for flour tortillas. I left off the spicy stuff and added chili pepper as needed. This was a bit liquidy, but that was to be expected since I made some modifications.
