My husband and I met in high school and had our first child when we were 16. We have been married for almost 17 years and loving every minute of it. My mom always let me help cook growing up. She was always patient with me. Everything from canning, desserts, holidays or Sunday meals. I first used to love making baked goods and then once I had a family of my own I found cooking to be relaxing. My husband is a perfect match as he loves to grill/smoke food and I help with the sides. We make a great pair.
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new recipes and cooking breakfast. I love being the "assistant" when my husband cooks.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always have a large crowd to feed so cooking large meals at the drop of a dime is always necessary - whether its breakfast or dinner. I have learned to cook for a crowd without sacrificing flavor or uniqueness.
My cooking triumphs
I have a friend who is vegetarian and never really let anyone cook for her. I have successfully been able to cook various meals for her and also opened our family up to a different type of cuisine.
My cooking tragedies
I can't say I have had any "tragedies". I guess when a recipe doesn't turn out the way I expect is the biggest. I don't have the best concept of cooking with wine - what flavors to use with what meals. I always enjoy wine with a good meal though. My worst vice is either burning my arms when putting something in the oven or taking it out or forgetting to turn the oven off.
