About this Cook
I am married and have four children, a cocker spaniel dog and a black and white cat. I am a stay at home mom. With four children, that is almost a given. My favorite hobbies are cooking and reading, esp. historical fiction novels
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking and especially like cooking desserts and breads. These things aren't necessarily the most dietary, so our neighbors do pretty well when I get on a cooking spree. When I was growing up, I was the official dessert maker.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas season, we make a variety of candies to give away. I like candies just because they don't go stale as fast as cookies. My favorite candies to make are peanut brittle and english toffee. My little boys enjoy helping to cook as much as possible. My daughter doesn't enjoy cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I wouldn't say I have any major triumphs. I just am happy when I make something and the family eats it all and doesn't complain.
My cooking tragedies
Haven't you noticed that things turn out great for the family but when you have company, that is when things tend to go awry?

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
Definitely better the subsequent days after making. Only change I made was 1/2 oil and 1/2 sour cream.

Frosted Chocolate Chip Cheesecake
good recipe. I made whipped cream instead of using whipped topping. We also passed the cream separately because not all like whipped cream in my family, even though chocolate is mixed in with it.
