Me and my cooking buddy
About this Cook
I am a Marine officer and LOVE to cook! My Marines are usually the test subjects when I try new recipes. I really love baking and work hard on perfecting cookies. I was raised as a vegetarian, and while I am not one currently, I am always looking for good vegetarian recipes. I am single and my cat just doesn't appreciate my cooking, as she likes her cat food more.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is Peaches and Cream Pie. Mainly it is my favorite to bake because it is my favorite to eat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
There are just some recipes that remind me of growing up...peaches and cream pie, pumpkin pie, learning how to make pie crust from my aunt, my dad making omelette for dinner (he makes the best ones ever!).
My cooking triumphs
For the past three years, I have hosted Thanksgiving at my house. I use a turkey recipes from All Recipes and it turns out perfect every time! I was really proud of my first Thanksgiving, but it keeps getting better every year.
My cooking tragedies
I tried a tofu parmesean recipe and it tasted okay, but was less than visually appealing. I still need to figure out the best way to cook with tofu!

Traditional Hot Cross Buns
This was a great and easy recipe. And I loved that it only made 6...perfect for me! I didn't have any currants, so I substituted with cranberries. And I also chopped the raisins and cranberries so they presences wasn't as obvious in the finished rolls. I also added about 1 t orange zest. Not sure why, but I had to make a double batch of the icing. I will make these again!

Ten Clove Garlic Marinade
I was really hoping for great things with this marinade, and it didn't wow me. The marinade smelled wonderful and I marinaded my chicken breasts for 48 hours before grilling them. The garlic was not very noticeable in the end product. I'll try this again only on steak and see if I like that result better.

Famous Chicken Adobo
I have been making this recipe for a while and I make it with some slight variations. I have never added the garlic powder or pepper. I just brown the chicken, add the garlic and onion and then put in equal parts white vinegar, low sodium soy sauce, and water (start with 1 c each...use enough to cover the chicken in the pot). Then I let it simmer for an hour. It is AWESOME! If you haven't tried chicken adobo, it is a must and this recipe won't steer you wrong!
