About this Cook
I learned to cook at my grandmothers's knees. Both were fabulous cooks! My maternal grandmother is also a superb baker. I live in a small town in Northeast Arkansas. I enjoy hosting dinner parties. I have even catered a few bridal showers and wedding receptions. I also sing in a traditional southern gospel quartet. I enjoy music and have played piano for 25+ years.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy traditional Southern food. My family also enjoys Italian, Asian and Mexican dishes. Baking is my specialty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember spending the night before Thanksgiving at my Grandmother's and waking the next morning to help her make oyster dressing, noodles and fruit salad.
My cooking triumphs
Catering a wedding reception for 250 people, including the meal and cake.
My cooking tragedies
Where to start? All those tragedies have taught me so much. But one stands out. I was taking a cake out of the oven and I guess the pan truly was "non-stick". I must have been holding the pan at an angle. The cake slid out of the pan and landed on the electric heating element at the bottom of the oven and caught on fire!

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns
hands down the best cinnamon roll recipe I've ever had!! My family devours these. I usually use a cream cheese icing.

Cider Vinegar Chicken
We were all disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the chicken wasn't bad. We were just expecting a BANG! from the apple cider vinegar, and it just wasn't there.

New York Cheesecake III
This the absolute best plain cheesecake I've ever made! Everyone loved it! I did make a graham cracker crust (1 c. graham cracker crumbs, 1/3 c. brown sugar, 1/4 c. melted butter, 1 tsp. cinnamon). Made no changes to the filling recipe. DO grease the inside of your springform pan. When you turn off the oven, I recommend running a knife around the edge of the pan and loosening the latch on the pan to prevent cracks.
