About this Cook
I love to cook and wish I could cook for others and make a living at it!
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry veggies with meat, homemade bread, all desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Enchiladas, soups, homemade bread from freshly milled grains, pies, cakes and cookies.
My cooking triumphs
I make everything from scratch, whether cooking or baking. I make our own bread from freshly milled grains. I always use fresh ingredients over canned or frozen as long as in season.
My cooking tragedies
I offered to make my neighbor bread since she was in a cast, and she wanted me to use her flour which was spelt, I think. The bread hardly rose and I gave it to her anyway. I was so embarrassed because normally my whole grain breads come out perfect.

Grandma's Pumpkin Tea Bread
This is a great recipe for fresh pumpkin, however I think the spices should have been in teaspoons instead of tablespoons. That said, I reduced the spices, added fresh chopped cranberries, chopped walnuts and 1 ripe banana for a thicker texture, and it was delicious! It's not too sweet - perfect for afternoon tea or coffee or an evening snack with some decaf!
