I am a student at Texas State University. I study, go to the bar, spend time with my dog, and cook.
My favorite things to cook
I'm working on perfecting my own special homemade pizza crust.
I enjoy making desserts, although I don't like sugar so I rarely eat them. I love spicy cuisines. My favorite food to cook is Vietnamese. I love grilling and frying. I just recently took up bread making. I found that it eases stress after a rough week of school to kneed the dough by hand.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every time I go home to visit my dad we cook for one whole day that I'm there. We fish frequently so we cook mostly seafood and vegetables.
My cooking triumphs
Shrimp pizza, white chocolate brownies with raspberry topping, apple pie, blackened snapper, crab cakes, stuffed mushrooms, onion rings, coconut shrimp, beer battered shrimp, and grilled shrimp embrochette.
My cooking tragedies
I once accidentally marinaded shrimp for a number of hours in 30 minute marinade. Don't make the same mistake! They never look done, somehow it completely changes the taste of the marinade and the shrimp, if the shrimp aren't peeled before you cook them they never will be (the peels get thin and stick to the shrimp). I have had plenty of other tragedies but that was probably the worst.
