Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
This was really good. Pretty much stuck to the recipe. Only used 8 cups of liquid (4c chicken broth, 4c water). Used minced garlic, and cubed some ham and left over kielbasa. Thanks.

This was awesome. The first thing to go at the bbq potluck. I baked the pretzels in a pan and switched them over to a prettier dish for presentation purposes. Yummy!

Thirty Minute Meal

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
Yum. I can not believe this turned out so good. I changed it up a little. Cooked the onions with a little brown sugar. Added meat back to the pan, seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, ketchup and creole seasoning. Added chopped cabbage to pan stirred to coat with meat mixture, topped with soup, covered and let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Awesome. Just awesome. Should be called "un" stuffed cabbage. Thanks!

Dip For The Stars

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
Excellent Dip! After tasting just the cheese mixture during prep, I have to say I had reservations so far as to call my husband and tell him I may need a back up appetizer for the party we were going to. But was I pleasantly surprised. Used minced onions instead of shallots amd vodka instead of vermouth. The flavors are dreamy and we all devoured it!! Thanks!

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

YUMMY!!! Used canned portabellos, shredded parmesan and forgot the parsley and still love, love, loved it!! My husband and I were quite pleased with the subtle "burn". Hate the fat, love the taste more. Thanks!

Ground Beef Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
Let's see...1st time making shepherd's pie and liked this base a lot. Cooked my 4 large potatoes with 1/2 an onion and mashed them with a lil 1/2 and 1/2, a lil milk, lil cheese, some salt and pepper and 2 tbsps butter, plus the egg. As others did I added a can of cream of mush, green beans but no tomatoes, just wasn't in the mood. Used ground turkey seasoned with dash of worcheshire, garlic, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cooked at 350, couldn't get them to brown, turned on broiler, VOILA! Topped with cheese and really enjoyed! Thanks.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This was really, really good soup. I like it because it's so versatile. Subbed potatoes for zucchini, diced tomatoes for sauce and beef broth for chicken cuz that's what I had. Loved it with my crusty bread. Thanks.

Ultimate Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This was VERY good. We really enjoyed it. Even our worker/guest who "doesn't like shrimp" liked this shrimp. Because I didn't have them on hand, I omitted the worchestshire, avacado, and lemon juice and subbed fresh parm for asiago. I can't wait to try it with the "right" stuff. Thanks!!!

Stewed Squash

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
I was looking for this recipe. Although I didn't know it was called "stewed squash" I am happy to have found it. My mom makes something like this dish. I went the vegan approach w/out bacon and used olive oil. It turned out great. I have never enjoyed squash and zucchini like this before! Great recipe. Thanks!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
I had many compliments on this dish. We thought this ziti was terrific! I followed the recipe exactly. But this time I made it for a 100 people so I adjusted the recipe to 50 servings. It made 6 aluminum pan 9x13 casseroles. There were close to 100 people at the event. We had 3 casseroles left over. Keep in mind there were many other dishes. I always seem to struggle with converting recipes, so now I know. As others have said this makes a lot of food. Thanks for the tasty dish. The leftovers will be my dish to pass on Memorial Day!

Southern-Style Crowder Peas

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
Holy Moly! These were great! I have eaten crowder peas/purple hull peas forever but not like this. Didn't use the ham and didn't miss it. Used minced garlic and cooked my fresh peas for the first hour with a slice of uncooked bacon as instructed by my southern relatives. Saved in my recipes for use again and again. Thanks.

I liked this a lot. Super simple. A good way to eat healthy and clean out your pantry. I played with the recipe as did others, putting in what I liked and had. Topped it off with fresh grated parm and am eating it as I write this. Thank you.
