I went to school for hotel and restaurant management and realized the second year in that I prefer the cooking classes. I started cooking at home all of the time and cooking for my family. The cookbooks piled up. I then got into baking. I have expiramented with breads, cakes, and pastries. I just love the kitchen, especially when it is clean!
My favorite things to cook
Lately I have enjoyed cooking and experimenting with homestyle Japanese cuisine, and I am still keeping up with my baking. I love to make spicy, flavorful sauces for Mexican food (the sauce for chile rellenos is my favorite), and I'm a natural at Italian as well. I absolutely love making any soup I can, especially in the fall, my favorite cooking/baking season.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We do a lot of grilling when it gets warm. Although I don't eat meat, I enjoy experamenting with veggie marinades and cooking my own veggies and patties on the grill. I also enjoy just being outside with my family drinking quality beer.
My cooking triumphs
This morning I made the best cinnamon rolls I have ever made. If you are looking for a recipe, use Cinnamon Rolls I on this site and look for my review.
My cooking tragedies
I lived in University dorms in China for a little while and there was only a hotplate to cook on. I couldn't stand not cooking, so i had to try it. There were so many burnt tragedies to name; I don't want to get into it.
