About this Cook
I'm a stay at home wife, and my husband is a chiropractor. I have three great stepchildren, ages 24, 22 and 20. In addition, we have 5 cats, 4 dogs and 5 horses we keep up with! In our spare time, we both love to entertain--anything from dinner parties for 4 to parties for 100. Most of the recipes I get from All Recipes are for the parties that we host. All Recipes has become my main source for new recipes, and I'm rarely disappointed.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts! I love baking cookies, cakes and pies. Apple dumplings are another favorite--my husband absolutely loves them--says they're the best!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving and my mother's apple, peach and pumpkin pies and apple dumplings.
My cooking triumphs
I can make a pie that is almost as good as my mother's--still have some learning to do, but I'm getting there. I'm also getting pretty good at her apple dumplings. I made my best and most beautiful turkey this Thanksgiving and an absolutely delicious prime rib (thanks to All Recipes).
My cooking tragedies
My husband and I like rare steaks, but I ALWAYS overcook them when I do them. That's why he always cooks them now!

Baked Spaghetti Squash with Beef and Veggies
This recipe turned us into spaghetti squash lovers. I received one from a friend's garden and didn't know what to do with it. Tried this recipe, and yum! My husband loved it, too, and he was very hesitant to try it. He said this recipe is a keeper.

Black Beans and Rice
My husband really liked this, as did I, but I agree with other reviewers that it needs a little more kick. Next time I will add some salsa or hot sauce to spice it up.

Zucchini Brownies
Delicious! I was a bit disappointed at first but then discovered the secret is letting them sit overnight. Wow! So much better the second day. Really, really good.
