About this Cook
I love to entertain, but mostly I am cooking for family. I am always looking for the recipes that I can play around with and make my own. The more I can make everyone go "WOW" the better.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook everything. My family does not like it when I repeat something (no matter how much they love it) so I am forever looking to alter the weekly menu.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chaos in the kitchen and Kids. I grew up in the kitchen with my grandmother and uncle - both amazing cooks. As kids, we were either mixing or sneaking the batter. Also, cooking was never complete by the time the party started, so it was tradition that all of the guests mingled in and out of the kitchen to ensure the chefs were not left out of the party.
My cooking triumphs
My great uncle's 80th Surprise Birthday Dinner. I thre together a 5 star meal in 1 day that he still talks about. I also love Thanksgiving - my favorite holiday to be in the kitchen cooking while everything is going on - I thrive in the chaos that is a holiday with a big family. This is the time that you feel like you are in a major restaurant's kitchen - lots of people doing lots of things - it's great!
My cooking tragedies
My very first thanksgiving with all of my in-laws. I cooked a great mean (for a first time) with tons of food and desserts. I had a 20 lb turkey that was golden brown and delicious... and stuffed. I had not taken the neck and "YUCK" (as my family called it) out of the cavity before I stuffed the thing!
