Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2009
EXCELLENT! Very moist and delicious. I cut the recipe in half as there are only two of us. A friend had given me a bag of zucchini; so while I had my little mess made, I grated all the zucchini and placed a cup full in zip lock bags and froze for later ease in making this again. This is a genuine "keeper". Thank you v monte for sharing!

Steak on a Stick

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
This was a major hit tonight! I used London broil in place of flank steak. I cut it into strips and pounded them before marinating. I only marinated for 4 hours as I was short on time. I placed the skewers on the grill for a few minutes on each side. They were very tender and juicy, couldn't have tasted any better. This is a definite 5 star recipe that I would highly recommend. Thank you Dominique Lynne for sharing.

Easy Chocolate Sherbet

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
This is a very rich chocolate dessert but I am a chocoholic! I threw all the ingredients in a blender, then froze in a glass dish stirring every 1/2 hour. When it was done, I found it to need another 1 1/2 cups of water. I used 1 tsp. almond extract in place of amaretto. Thank you Warning Monkey Bites for sharing.

Easy Orange Cream Slush

This was very refreshing and easy to make. It was not orangey enough for me so I added some orange juice concentrate and it did the trick. Thank you AMNDBRK1 for sharing.

Peach Sorbet

This is good but not very flavorful. I made it according to the recipe with fresh ripe peaches from the farm market. Perhaps they need to be very ripe.

Strawberries 'n' Cream Trifle

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
EXCELLENT! The only change I made was to use a 5.1 oz pkg. of Jello instant vanilla pudding and 3 cups of 2% milk. Everything else remained the same. It was all I had on hand and the amount was perfect. Thank you Pamela Gainer for such a great recipe!

Spool Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
I should have listened to my instincts. This recipe was too oily. I would suggest using a solid such as butter, margarine, or crisco in place of the oil; or at least cut back on the oil. The flavor is good. Thank you Jacquie Whitney for sharing.

Cherry-Nut Tea Ring

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
Very Good! I added cinnamon to the filling and used all-purpose flour with no problems. I would suggest cooking this on a pizza pan as there was no room on my cookie sheet to fan out the slices. I feel I lost some of the filling because of that. The taste was really good but it needed more filling. Thank you Claudeen Penry for sharing a very attractive tea-ring.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
The TEMPERATURE and TIME are way off base. After 1/2 hour, I read some reviews. I didn't think I had to with a 4 1/2 star recipe. By the time the bacon was done, the rest of the meal was cold. I'm giving it 3 stars because you can get great results by turning the temperature up and watching it closely; and, I will be making it this way again.

Microwave Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
GREAT! This recipe is so easy to do. I used cashews because we can't have peanuts. The baking soda foams the candy and makes it easy to bite. I also added 1/2 cup extra nuts. I will be making this again. Thank you Joyce!

EXCELLENT! This was my first time making a jelly roll. I followed the recipe exactly as written including the times alloted. It turned out perfect! Thank you Barb Maxwell, not only for the recipe but for your review telling about the cream cheese mixture as an added bonus. It was a real hit at our house.

Very Good! I followed the recipe exactly as written. The only problem I had was the ingredients say diced apples and the instructions call for sliced apples. I went with the diced apples and it turned out great!

Banana Trifle

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
MARVELOUS! I made this recipe exactly as stated. It gave such a nice presentation. I crushed the vanilla wafers by putting them in a zip lock bag and using a rolling pin. When I dished the dessert out, I sprinkled the top with extra crushed vanilla wafers I had set aside. It was the hit of the night. Thank you CNM CATERING for such an awesome recipe!

Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
VERY GOOD! I used a pizza wheel to cut the dough and a zip lock bag to coat it. It was a little harder to do because it was brown sugar not granular sugar but it made cleanup a breeze. I added sweetened dried cranberries and used chopped walnuts. Since I didn't have any maple syrup, I substituted dark Karo corn syrup. When I inverted the pan, all the syrup seemed to run into the dish. I wasn't sure this was going to be a success. As it cooled down it became a delightful sticky dessert worthy of it's 5 stars! Thank you Charlene Wilson for sharing your recipe.

I was surprised how juicy these meatballs were; however, they were very bland. IMO The addition of italian seasonings would make them better. This recipe would be good for someone who has to avoid spices.
