Thanksgiving is a time to remember the things you are thankful for. ¬†This year I don't have to go back very far to realize just how lucky I am. ¬†Hurricane Sandy changed many peoples lives and living at the Jersey shore gave my family a lot to be thankful for. The night of the storm was very… MORE

About this Cook
I have been happily married for 47 years and we have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. My son and his family live nearby and my daughter and her family live 3 hours away.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking things I can be creative with. My favorite thing to make is a new recipe. Using fresh grown herbs and home grown vegetables has added a lot of satisfaction to my cooking. I love presentation and the WOW factor! Catching fish in the morning and having them for dinner is a real treat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Easter I hold the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Each year it grows more as the family expands. We spend Thanksgiving with my daughter's family near Hershey Pa. On even years, my son and his family join us. Good food, good times in the kitchen, good friends, and football, followed by early morning shopping and a night at Hershey Park for the kids.
My cooking triumphs
My sister and I made my mother's wedding cake when, as a widow, she married one of my dad's friends. I don't think anything could top the feeling of finding one of my recipes mentioned in a magazine.
My cooking tragedies
While delivering a cake to my husband's workplace, my little one sat on it! I took the cake home, called hubby and the guys said "bring it anyway!" Fortunately, it had plastic wrap. Also, I set off the fire alarm at Disney World's Fort Wilderness while cooking bacon. The fire car came with it's lights flashing. It was soooo embarrassing.

Yummy Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream
YUM! I made this for the recipe group and was not disappointed. I followed the recipe to a "T", setting timers with no changes made. Perfect peanut butter taste and I am happy the egg yolks are cooked as the peanut butter melts into the milk mixture. I love the chopped peanut butter cups in it. Next time I will double the recipe. Thank you Chloe Marie for sharing your recipe!

Spaghetti and Meatballs Muffin Bites
LOVED IT! As a child my sister and I loved fried spaghetti for breakfast. This morning I decided to try this recipe as it seemed it would have the same texture, a little dry. You can always serve with more sauce if you want it wet but it needs to be dry to hold together. I made them in the larger muffin tins as I wanted more spaghetti per serving. The size was perfect. I crumbled a little american cheese on the top and garnished with fresh cut chives. This was the "bomb"! Now to share this recipe with my sister! Thank you Anna Berman for sharing.

Ultra Easy Pineapple Chicken Kabobs
VERY GOOD! I used fresh pineapple in stead of chunks as I felt they would stay on the skewers better. I was hesitant to use barbecue sauce as I felt teriyaki sauce would go better with the pineapple. I brush the barbecue sauce over the entire kabob looking for that sticky taste. The flavor was good and I will make these again but I will use teriyaki sauce. Thank you csiebe for sharing your recipe!
