Thanksgiving is a time to remember the things you are thankful for.  This year I don't have to go back very far to realize just how lucky I am.  Hurricane Sandy changed many peoples lives and living at the Jersey shore gave my family a lot to be thankful for. The night of the storm was very… MORE

About this Cook
I have been happily married for 47 years and we have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. My son and his family live nearby and my daughter and her family live 3 hours away.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking things I can be creative with. My favorite thing to make is a new recipe. Using fresh grown herbs and home grown vegetables has added a lot of satisfaction to my cooking. I love presentation and the WOW factor! Catching fish in the morning and having them for dinner is a real treat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Easter I hold the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Each year it grows more as the family expands. We spend Thanksgiving with my daughter's family near Hershey Pa. On even years, my son and his family join us. Good food, good times in the kitchen, good friends, and football, followed by early morning shopping and a night at Hershey Park for the kids.
My cooking triumphs
My sister and I made my mother's wedding cake when, as a widow, she married one of my dad's friends. I don't think anything could top the feeling of finding one of my recipes mentioned in a magazine.
My cooking tragedies
While delivering a cake to my husband's workplace, my little one sat on it! I took the cake home, called hubby and the guys said "bring it anyway!" Fortunately, it had plastic wrap. Also, I set off the fire alarm at Disney World's Fort Wilderness while cooking bacon. The fire car came with it's lights flashing. It was soooo embarrassing.

Italian Style Flounder
TASTY & SIMPLE! This was so easy to make with ingredients I had on hand. My only changes were to use fresh basil from the garden and bake only 10 minutes. I deducted a star because I feel 30 minutes would have over cooked the flounder. Flounder isn't a very thick fish and doesn't need a long time to bake. Thank you SUE416 for sharing your recipe!

Costa del Sol Barbeque Sauce
EXCELLENT! I made this today, as part of the recipe group, to use on barbecued chicken tomorrow. I thought this would give the flavors time to blend. My only change was to use garlic powder in place of the garlic cloves and I had to skip the peppers. After reading the reviews, I'm thinking how good it would be on shrimp or ribs! Such a decision! I know it's good, I licked the spoon!! Thank you Don for sharing your recipe and "good choice" recipe group!!

Nesquik(R) Chocolate Whip Topping
YUM! Light and fluffy chocolate whip cream! My only change was to drizzle with chocolate syrup, after all, I am a chocoholic! This is five stars in my book! Thanks for sharing your recipe mis7up! I can always count on you for a good one!
