About this Cook
We are an active family with a love for food. We grill 90% of the year, and often our entire meals are grilled. We love to try anything, and dislike little.
My favorite things to cook
Since we grill so much I am a pro at grilling meats. I would deflate my husband's ego if he knew this, but I think I grill mets better than he does. But I'll give him potatoes - that man can grill the perfect potatoes you ever ate!! I do love baking, but I am awaiting a very necessary kitchen remodel that will allow me the freedom to bake the things I'd like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
In my family? Not many - there are a few gems, like Grandma's Famous Burnt Beans and Mommy's Famous Hamburger Hash, but I'd have to say my favorite is our standard Keilbasa, Saurkraut & Mashed Potatoes dinner. Otherwise, no real traditions in my family, so I'm hoping to start some of my own.
My cooking triumphs
I'm getting really good at baked goods - especially cookies. So, I'd say that generally is what my cooking triumph is thus far.
My cooking tragedies
Well, I have a bad habit of not tasting things before I serve them - my husband can't comprehend how I make food without tasting it. Don't ask, because I don't know. But, needless to say, it has resulted in a few foul tasting mishaps that have been quickly taken off the dinner table to be replaced by whatever is in the pantry.

Bottom Round Roast with Onion Gravy
This was pretty good! I only used 5 onions, and used red wine vinegar instead of regular vinegar. I used a traditional cast iron dutch oven which made all the difference. The gravy turned out dark brown, not light like in the picture, but it was very flavorful. My husband thought it tasted like a great homemade German dish. Served it over egg noddles and a side of asparagus.

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad
Very good! I recommend making this one or even two days before you serve it because this is a dish that only gets better with time. YUM!

Grandpa Bob's Spicy Barbeque Sauce
This is a great BBQ sauce base. I say base only because we always add our own touches to things like this. I actually double the amount of BBQ sauce and use it with already grilled or leftover pork and cook it all down together on the stove. The sauce gets nice and thick and the flavor is great!!
