About this Cook
I'm retired. No grandchildren (sigh!) but great kids and their spouses. We're best of friends. Love living in semi rural Georgia near University of Georgia in Athens. Grew up in a university town. Encourage my artist husband to get back to the easel while I cook for him!
My favorite things to cook
Southern, Italian (esp. pizza) and I've finally perfected my pasta sauce to my liking. Also have gotten very interested in bread baking - without a bread machine. Like to cook healthful recipes that are low glycemic. Always enjoy trying new recipes with my own twist.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Southern
My cooking tragedies
Baked my favorite pound cake which I've made many, many times. Had relatives coming, but a friend distracted me. Cake flopped. Had to get a bakery cake. yuk!!

Amazing Butternut Squash
This was delicious! Just made a couple changes for my diabetic husband. I sweetened with stevia to taste instead of brown sugar. Also used wholewheat bread crumbs for topping instead of saltine crackers and doubled amount. It's a keeper!

Multigrain Seeded Bread
Loved this bread. Will add a little more salt next time. Also used egg white wash on top of loaf, instead of milk and seeds adhered perfectly. Delicious! My diabetic husband loved it. I'll make this often.
