About this Cook
As another of my soon to be sister-in-laws has recently described me, I am Suzy Homemaker. I am a stay-at-home mom with 4 beautiful children (3 boys and 1 girl) and an amazing fiance. I love baking and cooking for my family and friends. Everyone knows to raid my cake holder whenever they come here. It's always full as my family had me baking almost daily. I love to watch baseball (go Yankees), basketball (Lebron is the GREATEST!), playing with all of my kids, and hanging out with my best friend whenever I'm not busy with my family. I love the Lord, I owe everything I have and am to Him, and that without Him I am nothing! God is GREAT!!!!
My favorite things to cook
Italian, chicken, potatoes, seafood, cookies, pies, cakes, bars, donuts, Chinese, Mexican
My favorite family cooking traditions
As soon as I could see over the counter, my Dad taught me how to cook. Everything we made from scratch. That whole side of my family cooks like this. We would all cook together. There is always a job for everybody in our kitchen when the family is all together. Even if it's just having dinner in the middle of the week. We still all cook together. And we cook the same way. The same recipes (my brother and I go to a different level with the seasoning though. You can never have to much flavor!) Our whole family makes the same cheesecake, donuts, lasagna, almost everything. It's just all fun!!!
My cooking triumphs
The day I learned how to make cornbread finally!!! But my favorite so far (which is also the best compliment I ever recieved) was when my soon to be sister-in-law told me she should have had me make her wedding cake instead of the one she had ordered from a pro.
My cooking tragedies
The one thing I used to never be able to make was cornbread. No matter what I did, it always came out VERY dry. Last X-mas I tried to make those snowball cookies and they were AWFUL!! They tasted like a ball of baked flour. Then there's the time I made a cheesecake and since I didn't want to wait overnite for it to set, I put it in the freezer to try and speed it up. Well, when I pulled it out and cut into it, it all caved in and turned into a ball of mush. It was awful. And to make it worse, it was the first time I was cooking for my now brother-in-law and everyone told him how great I could cook. I was mortified!!!
