Mmm, Pina Colada
About this Cook
I have two boys and a very tall husband. I love to cook, but will bake cookies or cakes given any opportunity. My favorite memory of my childhood is walking into the house after a long walk home from school and discovering freshly baked chocolate chip cookies waiting for me...along with my mom, sipping her tea.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, oh, and some healthy stuff!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love sweet potato balls with marshmallows inside! They remind me of my Mom and Granny.
My cooking triumphs
One Christmas, when my oldest son was just a baby, I was responsible for Christmas Dinner dessert. I chose the cover recipe from Bon Appetit, and it turned out FLAWLESS! I knew I was pretty handy in the kitchen, but that torte cemented my reputation in my husband's family as "The Baker".
My cooking tragedies
Hmmm...haven't really had one. Will think about it and see if I can remember one. I tend to block out this kind of thing.

Gorgonzola and Apple Pork Chops
This was incredible!! So easy, fast and delicious! I used some of the suggestions from other reviewers and simple used the apple gorgonzola mixture as a topping, since my pork chops were already on the thin side. I used 1.5 honeycrisp apples and added about 1 tsp of brown sugar to the apples as they sauteed. I served this with acorn squash and wild rice. The apple gorgonzola mixture was excellent mixed in with the rice and squash too! This will be added to our regular rotation throughout the fall and winter!

Catherine's Pickled Blueberries
WOW!! I was intrigued by this recipe...much to the dismay of my family. They all thought it sounded bizarre. We sampled it over goat cheese last night and LOVED it!! Today we tried it over brie. Even better!! I am making another batch to be sure I have enough for us to eat regularly and perhaps have some available for gifts during the holidays.

Lazygirl's Ground Turkey Stroganoff
I used some of the tips provided by other reveiwers, but still thought this meal was bland. I added shallots, garlic, thyme and salt. My husband liked it, after he nearly emptied the pepper shaker on it. I might use this as a base recipe in the future, but it's just as likely I'll find another stroganoff recipe to work from.
