About this Cook
I have been marred to my husband Terry for 29 years. We have three grown daughters. I am an independent consultant for a jewelry company. I love music and dance. I was a ballroom dance teacher for 10 years. This year I am really getting into gardening. I am enjoying it more than I thought I would.
My favorite things to cook
I have to admit my favorite things are the quickest in my arsenal. My spaghetti and my chili. My family loves them and company always seems impressed. I will never tell how little time it takes me. Only my family knows and my daughters and my sister now use my recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Luckly our daughters live close. We have a family dinner nearly every Sunday of the year. Even my son-in-law loves coming over on Sunday. He is quite put out if Sunday dinner gets cancelled. Which is rare but happened recently.
My cooking triumphs
It took me years to master my Grandma Day's Fried Chicken but I finally got it perfected. Now, everyone in the family waits anxiously for me to prepare it inlcluing my sister, my kids and their friends. I don't prepare this on a regular basis but a few times a year we indulge!!!
My cooking tragedies
I wasn't much of a cook when I first met my husband. He put up with some really nasty cooking. The worst was when I tried to fry chicken in an upstairs apartment in the middle of summer with no airconditioning. I tried to fry it in a cheap non-stick skillet. It was horrid. Lucky for me he stuck around long enough to have Christmas dinner at my Grandma Day's house. He tasted her fried chicken, chicken and dumplings and green beans, potatoes and ham and decided he didn't want to leave the family. These are the meals he still loves the most. Even though my Mom and Grandma Day are gone, I love paying homage to them by cooking those wonderful recipes that they handed down to me.
