I absolutely loved this. I made it for an office brunch and had none left and no complaints. The only thing I did different was to follow a previous suggestion of adding cinnamon to the bread layers. I did not think the sauce was too sweet, it was a nice balance to the lack of sweetness in the casserole.

This was very good but the cook time is not near long enough. I ended up baking for 1 hour in order to get the middle to set.

I was really disappointed in the consistency of this dish. It was not creamy and saucy like I had hoped. It almost seemed "curdled". I followed directions exactly but think it needed some 1/2 and 1/2 or milk to thin out the sauce and provide a better texture. None of the kids (ages 8, 10 and 15) would eat it.
