About this Cook
Ernie and I have been together for four years now. One of our hobbies is cooking together. Sometimes I cook, sometimes he cooks, and often we cook together. We make a great team in the kitchen. He is a better cook than I am- he just has a knack for it. I like to follow recipes and try new ones, whereas he usually just likes to throw things together.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything that sounds good. I usually try to cook healthy food. Slow cooking, soups, casseroles, pastas, salads, and my favorite thing is to bake, which I don't do too often because I have a huge appetite and would probably gain serious weight! I love fresh fruit and veggies and incorporating them into my cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both my parents and my grandmother can fresh fruit and make delicious pies. My mom cooks simple, fresh, delicious foods and I appreciate her still for cooking such good food for us, even though we didn't have much money! No fast food for us!
My cooking triumphs
I once made the best cheesecake my dad had ever eaten. He still remembers it. I should find that recipe and make it again. Everytime I make something that is healthy and tasty, and my boyfriend likes, I feel like it's a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
I have burnt broccoli twice (in the same day) and just recently burnt the pan as well as my hand while steaming artichokes. Usually I do pretty well but once in awhile have an off day!

Louisiana Sweet Potato Pancakes
These were very dense and filling. I added a little vanilla and brown sugar. I think next time I'll use yams (for the orange color) and add chopped pecans or walnuts. We didn't have maple syrup, so my boyfriend put a little whipped cream cheese and rasberry jam on top. Yum!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler
This was easy. I followed the recipe to a T. Used two cups fresh blueberries. My boyfriend and I thought it was good, but not fantastic. He thought it should be sweeter and juicier, based on his experience with frozen cobblers. I felt like something was off...not sure what would make it better but I know my mama's cobbler is sooo good, and this wasn't like hers.
