The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
I used a 15 ounce jar of Skippy Natural (Creamy) and found that they were the best peanut butter cookies I have ever had. I would recommend this to anyone who has a love affair with peanut butter!

Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
This cake is decent, but not amazing. It is definitely dry, perhaps if I try this again I will add a package of chocolate pudding. I would've given it four stars for taste alone, but the frosting killed it. It tastes like flour, and it comes out really yellow in color. The texture is also wrong. I would definitely use a whipped cream frosting, or cream cheese. I know it's not "traditional", but the cake really needs something other than what it calls for.

Clark Gable Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
This is a perfect, easy pancake recipe. It's fast, they're completely fluffy, and they melt in your mouth! Thanks for such a simple recipe. Please note that the amount of baking powder is correct. There was no bitterness due to the amount suggested, so I say go for it- these pancakes fluffed up like none I'd ever seen!

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
This is a FAST recipe! It's meant for those of us who don't like to buy buttermilk, and never seem to have batter mix on hand. :) I didn't make any additions for flavor- nothing is bland by the time my son and I are done adding maple syrup and butter! I thought the point of a waffle was the toppings anyway. The only change I made was for the milk- used 1.5 cups instead of 2 because my old school waffle iron doesn't do too well with runny mixtures. I would recommend these to a family on the go that wants a quick and tasty breakfast, but not necessarily to someone who is looking for something super gourmet.

White Layer Cake

Reviewed: May 11, 2009
This is an excellent basic white cake recipe and I would highly recommend it with a few modifications. First, I would only use cake flour instead of regular all purpose flour. It's finer, so it makes a more palatable cake. I would also suggest to mix the butter with the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk to that without the sugar, then beat the egg whites with the sugar to create a meringue (until the mixture forms peaks) and fold that mixture in with the rest of the cake. It makes it a lighter, fluffier cake. The taste is great and the level of moisture is perfect. We paired it with a chocolate buttercream frosting- excellent Mother's Day dessert!
