About this Cook
My husband and I have been vegetarian since July 2001 and I'm always on the lookout for vegetarian recipes, or recipes that can be changed to vegetarian with a few simple modifications.
My favorite things to cook
Beans & rice---all sorts of ways, pastas, easy meals during the week and fancier stuff when I have the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook from watching my grandmother (even though she always cooked meat & potatoes for my grandfather). I hardly ever use measuring utensils--she never did (even for baking!) and she was the most incredible cook!
My cooking triumphs
My most successful inventions have revolved around pasta, either as a casserole or a salad.
My cooking tragedies
Always revolved around using a pre-made bottled sauce...that's why I like to make my own seasonings and sauces.

Poor Man's Sandwich
I made one of these, cut it in half, and made my husband close his eyes before he ate it. I knew he wouldn't even try it if I told him what it was. Of course he likes goober burgers so I knew he would like it :o) I had to make us each another one for supper and I've been told that the recipe is a keeper.

A Potato Salad Sandwich
Love weird sandwiches (none of which I discovered until I was a vegetarian). First tried a potato salad sandwich when that was the ONLY vegetarian option and I felt like a sandwich. Yum.
