About this Cook
I am an undergraduate student with a year before graduation. I love photography, and recently developed a passion for cooking and baking as well. I'd love to increase my ability for creating interesting, tasty, pretty dishes easily!
My favorite things to cook
My mom's recipe "pancakes" with apples in them, scrambled eggs (the proper, long way), bread (for the coolness of having fresh bread), and garlic mashed potatoes (easy and comforting).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom's day-of-cooking before each big gathering in our house.
My cooking triumphs
Making bread successfully from the first try, making carrot cake successfully from the first try.
My cooking tragedies
Consistently being unable to time all parts of my dish to come together at the right time. Setting off the alarm at 11:30pm in a hostel when making steak.

Carrot Cake III
I am a completely new baker/cook (a student too), and this came out *fantastic*. The only difference I did is lessen the icing to 1/4 cup butter, and 1 cup sugar, and didn't add pecans to the icing, as I felt the creaminess is enough (and enough pecans would be in the cake). The cake was half eaten right away by roomates, and the next morning, with the icing chilled it was even better! One more thing I saw being done and wish I could do, is add raw pumpking seeds on top of the icing. I couldn't find any, but it tastes excellent.

Chocolate Strawberry Banana Milkshake
I was looking for a milkshake that didn't have ice cream in it as we were out of it =) Very tasty, very airy and light milkshake. Good taste. I didn't use straight strawberries, but blueberries and cranberries as well - I had a mixed packet =) Came out gorgeous! I also added more banana and chocolate. The way it is right now, is (as author said) a bit less sweet than most milkshakes =)
