I also love to host a party just to try out new recipes, especially finger foods/appetizers. I also enjoy planning holiday menus, and I'm always on the lookout for new, delicious shrimp recipes. I have lots of favorite comfort food recipes passed down from my Mom, especially her meatloaf, potato salad and spaghetti sauce. I remember making an elaborate cake shaped and decorated like a hamburger with all the trimmings when I was very young. That triumph still stands out as one of my favorites. Many of my co-workers have commented favorably on some of the baked goods I've brought in to work through the years. Too many to mention. As a general rule, I don't do soups well, although I don't know why. I can follow most any recipe and make it turn out well, although I don't "free form" or "improv" very well.
