Hearty Meatball Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
This was delicious with some changes and additions. I added bread crumbs and garlic to the meatballs and cut back on the onions overall. Added an extra cup of broth, half the carrots, and a few handfuls of pasta. Tasted great!

Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2011
This soup came out great with a few changes: beef broth instead of chicken, omitted the cabbage, used diced tomatoes (what I had on hand), and added some rosemary, parsley and black pepper. I also cooked it in a crockpot (low for 6hr) and kept the pasta separate so that I could freeze any leftovers. Tastes great!

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
I made this today and it was delicious! The only change I made was to cook it in a crockpot (about 4 hours on Low), and I added the flour as a roux after adding the milk. I doubled the recipe and it's already almost gone on day 1!

Chicken Piccata II

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I was very disappointed with this recipe. The sauce did not come out well at all, and the chicken barely had a lemony flavor to it... it just tasted like unseasoned fried chicken.

Simple Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2010
I made half a batch and left out the soy sauce simply because I didn't have any. This came out delicious! This reminds me of the home-made Sloppy Joes that I grew up with. I'll never buy canned sloppy joes again!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2010
These came out at a pleasant mix of soft and chewy. However: You do not need to chill the dough, in fact, this stuff becomes almost frozen stiff if refrigerated. I'd skip the part about dipping the fork in sugar etc - I just rolled these into balls, and used parchment paper instead of greasing the cookie sheet.

Penne Primavera

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
Only 4 stars since I made some changes due to personal preference. I omitted the peas and Parmesan cheese, added 1/2 cup chopped onion to the veggie/broth mix, and added 1 tsp crushed basil and some ground black pepper to the pasta. I also added ~1/4 cup alfredo sauce, just enough to make the pasta moist.

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
Rated a 4 of 5 only because the ones that I tried rolling in confectioner sugar or cocoa powder were a bit too strong for my taste. However, these were very quick and easy to make, and the ones that I rolled in pecans are fabulous!

Venison Fingers

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
I used shredded italian cheese simply because that was what I had on hand, added a lot of honey to the mustard mix since that is a personal preference, and cooked the deer a little different. I baked mine for 15 minutes at 375, then finished them off by frying them for maybe a minute. This left them nice and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. They didn't taste gamey at all, delish!

Aunt Cora's World's Greatest Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
These were pretty good. I made a few little changes just for my personal preferences (butter instead of margarine, added 1 tsp vanilla extract and a dash of salt). PS - to the reviewer who said their cookies were flat, try putting a layer of parchment paper over your cookie sheet next time you make any drop cookies. This will prevent spreading (which makes cookies flat and icky looking); plus, you can turn over the parchment sheet between each batch and reuse it!

Stephanie's Best Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
I would suggest doubling the amount of pasta and chicken involved, and adding italian seasonings (and maybe some onion/bell peppers if you like spice) while still only using 1 jar of spaghetti sauce. Make these changes for a 5 star experience!

Apple Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
If you follow the recipe as written, 4 stars. If you add cream cheese to the tortillas before adding the rest of the ingredients, 5+++ stars! I made mine with leftover cream cheese frosting and it tasted divine! I also made 2 without the frosting to test the difference, and they were just OK compared to the ones with frosting.

Pumpkin Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
I had to make a few changes to this recipe simply because I didn't have all the ingredients; ie, using extra light olive oil, eggzactly (imitation eggs), and a glass baking dish. However, this cake still came out wonderful, especially when topped with cream cheese frosting! (ps - if you need to bake this in a glass dish, reduce the temp. by 25 degrees and be prepared to cook it for an extra 15-20 minutes)

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
If you are planning on using store-bought icing... DON'T! I don't care what kind of icing it claims to be, this recipe will be 10x better. Just try not to use reduced fat/fat-free cream cheese if you don't have to!

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

These cookies are very yummy (despite what the ingredients would suggest, this cookie manages to be delicious without being too sweet). I don't normally like crisp cookies, but these were great dipped in milk!

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
The only change I made was to spoon 1/2 the honey mix over the chops in a 9x13 pan and bake for 15 mins at 350, turn, baste with the rest of the honey mix and bake another 15 mins. Came out nice and moist and sweet, but I'd recommend anyone who doesn't like sweet meat to add some onion or soy sauce as other reviewers have suggested.

Pumpkin Roll Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
I doubled the amount of filling on the inside and I'm glad I did it! I put about 3/4 of the doubled filling inside, and left the last 1/4th in a bowl to be slightly melted and used as a dip. It made this already delicious dessert even better! (ps - I used other reviewer's tips to spray the pan with pam baking spray, then line with parchment, then spray again - the cake part popped out easily!) - oh and btw, whatever you do to change this recipe, dont omit the walnuts... omg that crunch is bliss!

Simple Time Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
For someone like me who is just beginning to figure out how to cook (did I mention I just last week learned the proper way to brown meat? lol!) this recipe was, as it's title suggests, very simple! I used italian cheese instead of cheddar, and the chops came out wonderful! (I'm sure the cheddar would have tasted great too, but italian cheese was all I had on hand)
