Relocating is one of the most stressful events endured by modern man, inducing insomnia, binge eating, temper tantrums and the nagging feeling that something important is getting lost in the shuffle. Between our desperate attempts to cram a house and workshop's worth of furniture, tools and… MORE

The sound of the alarm gently pried my eyelids open, and I brushed the kittens aside and lumbered out of bed into the cool morning air, for I was on a mission. It was farmers market day (perhaps more commonly known as "Friday") and the boyfriend and I had a date to bike to the market and see… MORE

July, with its long days of sunshine, BBQs and pool parties, aims its sunny gaze on the second half of 2009, a year which, thus far, has been extremely challenging, and at times, rather dismal. About Me
I enjoy making music, writing, yoga, hiking & camping, lifting weights, cooking, traveling, permaculture, growing my own food, reading, fire performing, avoiding employment, beer!, eating good food, mind-blowing sex, roadtrips and rescuing kittens. Mostly I aim to break through boundaries & get off the grid.
My favorite things to cook
I love making stews and soups. . . anything hearty and wintery that should only be stirred with a wooden spoon for that authentic old-timey feel. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken soup and knaydelach, Noodles and Pot Cheese, and Shoe Fly Pie (it's just stew, really, but my Dad always thought it was more fun to say Shoe Fly Pie)
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving Turkey every year since 2001, with my bitchin' beer based gravy.
My cooking tragedies
Yogurt. I was using the oven, and I was turning it on 250ยบ for a couple minutes, then turning it off and leaving it for an hour, but I was also having a BBQ, and I got distracted and forgot to turn off the oven (and almost at the end of the whole process, too!) and the silicone lid of the metal bowl melted right into the now curdled and cooked milky mess. I'm still pretty disappointed about that lid. :(
