About this Cook
I'm half Korean and about to graduate with my master's in public administration and hoping to work in the non-profit field. Love learning, cooking, the environment and traveling. I also dabble in too much sewing and knitting/textile crafts.
My favorite things to cook
Curry from any country, Cambodian but I can't really make it very well. I love cooking Korean food and trying to make new and foreign foods. I also love cooking Italian foods. Quick breads of all sorts and of course homemade jam!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great grandmother owned an avocado and tangerine ranch so we would fill up our five gallon buckets with them. Thus, I never had a "traditional" Thanksgiving dinner until I met my husband and ate with him (I.E, I never had yam pie, green casserole, etc) because we lived in California and had chips and guacamole before Turkey. Also, living in Oregon for a time and growing up with picking blackberries and making homemade jam.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to make kimchi the traditional way and learning to home can and make homemade jam!
My cooking tragedies
Anything with trying to sweeten baker's chocolate.

Creamy Hot Cocoa
This was good, but it was way way too sweet. I did less than half the sugar and it was still too sweet, however this was a great base recipe. I replaced the half and half with So Delicious unsweetened coconut milk, delicious!

Spiced Applesauce Bread
I love this bread, I use mostly cinnamon and add dried cranberries to this. It's a traditional present ever year for my friend's boyfriend and he eats is very very quickly.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread
This bread is exceptionally good! I use 1 tbsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp cloves and 1 tbsp of Chinese five spice. I come from a very spice loving family and this is always a hit! If you are not accustomed to heavy heavy spice, then stick with the original recipe, it's just as good.
