Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
Loved it! Sooo easy! I added 2 cloves garlic to celery and onions. Also, added more broth. I blended with an immersion hand blender to create a creamy soup. Be sure to season with plenty of pepper. Great with grilled cheese sandwiches.

Apple Breakfast Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
This was an easy recipe. Like others, I substituted 1/2 the white sugar for brown, left out cloves, used allspice and added vanilla. Very good, if you like apple bread; my kids decided they like banana bread better! Think next time I will make muffins and add a streusel topping.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Teens loved it! Very good flavor, although I will use chuck roast next time. Very easy and great flavor. Next time will try sauteed onions and peppercinis.

Chow Mein Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
So easy, and I'm always looking for easy! My mother made something like this, too. My teens loved it! Like others, I changed the soup to cream of mushroom, added water chestnuts, peas, fresh garlic, pepper, a little cayenne pepper for heat and used ground turkey. I baked with the Chinese noodles and they do not go soggy when lightly placed on top. I would add a little more soy sauce. It was definitely comfort food, not gourmet...just good. ;)

Ratatouille

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
This was delicious!! I made this for a family gathering and there were no leftovers. The flavors are so yummy and this recipe is so easy! The only change I made was to sautee the onions with the eggplant and garlic. I could have eaten that alone! I will be making this dish all the time.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
This was a good recipe and so easy. Used 6 pounds of chuck roast and cooked for 8 hours. I added garlic to the crockpot for extra flavor. As many reviewers suggested, after slicing the meat, I put it back in the juices and let it sit for 1/2 hour after turning the crockpot off. Broiled provolone cheese on French Rolls; I think this is better than butter. Served roasted garlic potatoes, tossed salad and the "ratatouille" recipe on this site...perfect blend of flavors.

Tasty Bake Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Delicious! As other reviewers stated, I used Italian dressing instead of plain oil to add to the dry dressing. I used boneless chicken tenders and added mushrooms, red pepper slices and chopped onion on top of the chicken. Next time, I will marinate for an hour before placing in oven. I will make this again.

Easy Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
I really wanted this to be good. For our family preference, the spices overwhelmed the ham flavor. It was very unusual; it was like eating nutmeg meat. House smelled great, though. Due to the rave reviews, I keep thinking (and hoping) I did something wrong! I know I could change the ingredients to our preference, but I would have to change so much, it wouldn't be close to the same recipe.

Spanish Flan

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I've made this a few times and it is great every time! As some suggested, I baked it in a water bath. I also used 4 eggs instead of 3 which created a perfect consistency; not too eggy, yet firm and creamy. Some have suggested using brown sugar as a substitute for the white. Because of the molasses added to make brown sugar, when liquifying, the molasses can burn quickly and ruin the sugar syrup (I know cuz I did it!) White sugar works perfectly. I combined the egg mixture in my mixer and did not need to sieve. I have received rave reviews on this flan and it is easy to make with simple ingredients. Comes out perfect every time! This will be a staple in my dessert repertoire!
