About this Cook
I like to cook and enjoy trying new dishes for my family. Some family members are more daring than others, but as long as they'll give it a try, I'm game!
My favorite things to cook
Chicken, steak, salmon, salads, and pasta, pasta, pasta!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook with my family. My hubby is great on the grill and we work well together in the kitchen. Since my kids were small, we have enjoyed baking together and it's a sweet memory I cherish.
My cooking triumphs
I have been lucky. I have several recipes my family requests for birthdays, holidays, and 'just because'. Some pasta dishes, chicken dishes, meatloaf, cheesy potatoes, and a couple of desserts. I love it when they request a special dish. :)
My cooking tragedies
My hubby STILL comments on the beautiful strawberry and gelatin pie I made when we were first married. It was a thing of beauty. And it was as hard as concrete. We couldn't cut into it nor get it out of the baking dish. Even when we threw it in the back yard as a frisbee, it didn't come out of the dish. We threw the whole thing out. I also made a fish dish that obviously had a misprint in the recipe, but I was too much of a novice to know. I covered the fish with 1/2 cup of parsley. It tasted like wet grass.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops
This was good. Nice flavor. Our chops were much too thick, so the time was off, but with a regular chop I think this recipe would be perfect!

Cowboy Mashed Potatoes
Folkeat their lwed the recipe exactly, and my family loved this! I didn't peel the potatoes, and used the jalapeno despite my apprehension about it being too 'hot'. I'm glad I didn't alter the recipe. It had great flavor with the skins, garlic, butter, and veggies. It's a great way to get the kids to eat their veggies. A keeper! Thanks, Steve!
