Old-Fashioned Scalloped Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
I have to give it 5 stars because it was good. But it's pretty much the same as opening a can of creamed corn and heating it up. I also had trouble with the topping because it doesn't "sprinkle" that well, it chunks. So it was very uneven. I also cooked it for an hour like a few reviews said, which helped make it somewhat thicker in consistency. I think it's horrible to add that much butter to a dish that really doesn't need it. I won't be making this again, I'll just enjoy regular creamed corn like usual.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
Wonderful recipe! Very easy to make and delicious! My boyfriend and I used this recipe last night and we both wanted to eat every piece of chicken we had! :) The only differences from the original were to use Worchestershire sauce instead of steak sauce (no steak sauce at the house), thighs instead of breasts (we love dark meat!), and we let them sit in the sauce for about a half hour. As a few reviews also said, I reserved about 4 Tbsp of the sauce to drizzle on them when they came off the grill. We usually leave them cooking a bit longer so that the sauce burns itself onto the skin (I mean, we're grilling, right?!) and let me tell you, it was amazing! My boyfriend loves my cooking, but it's not often that he uses the word "ridiculous" (in a good way!). :) Thank you for sharing!

Classic Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I followed the recipe to a "T" except for the following: (1) I don't like onions and didn't have celery, so I only sauted the carrots in 1 Tbsp of oil. (2) In place of onions and celery, I added onion powder and celery salt. (3) I used a smoked chicken since the country store right down the road has amazing smoked EVERYTHING. I used some Homemade Chicken Broth I had frozen a couple weeks ago, also a recipe from this site. I found the soup pretty good, not QUITE 5 stars (maybe 4.5!) but my boyfriend absolutely loved it! I want to try it with a roasted chicken; it was a little too smokey of a soup! :) But very very good.. the base was wonderful! I don't make a lot of soups so I am glad this is very easy too. The one thing I would change for me is using smaller noodles of some type.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I am making salsa for Thanksgiving and was looking at a lot of different recipes to get ideas to make mine a little better. I saw this one and decided to try it out (salsa is pretty cheap to make and this is really easy). WONDERFUL! I didn't add extra green chilies b/c I'm from a small town, store didn't have them. :) I thought there was a little too much onion for me (I hate them, but I love salsa!), but I wouldn't decrease the amount that much. As for the BLENDER (all I have), I put in on STIR for about 8-10 seconds then pulsed it until it was my desired consistency. I like it thinner, like you would find at a lot of Mexican restaurants around here (I LOVE Chili's salsa, that's about as thick as I'll eat it though!). So if you like it chunkier, I'd pulse it a few times. Thanks for sharing your awesome recipe! :)

Yin-Yang Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
This was a nice change in pace from what I normally find to do with my salmon. However, I didn't have a 2lb fillet, so I decreased the ingredients proportionally. Nor did I know from reading the directions (maybe it's stupidity) whether or not to take the salmon out of the marinade and place it on another pan or just cook it in the dish it marinated in. TAKE IT OUT -- it's been a week and I'm still trying to scrape the burned sauce from the pan (And yes, I did use a smaller pan for marinating since I had less fish). But overall the flavor wasn't bad! Definitely something I may come back to after a while. :)

Cheese Lover's Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
This is DEFINITELY a dish for someone that loves CHEESE and TOMATO SAUCE! I am one of those people! So a chicken dish that comes with all that extra goodness to soak up with some bread/rolls/toast is A+! Very simple to make, very simple to eat. :)

Grilled Pizza Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I haven't actually made the sandwich like the recipe says, but my mama used to make similar sandwiches when I was little. We also had a sandwich maker.. but in college I just made them on the stove. Very simple.. just pizza sauce/cheesy spaghetti sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and any other favorite pizza toppings!

Chicken in Mushroom Sauce

I thoroughly enjoyed this dish!! I also seasoned the chicken with season all, garlic salt, and ground black pepper. And my fiance is now a huge fan -- I may need to make it again pretty soon!!

Deer Poppers

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
We made these tonight and they are amazing! I have got one in my mouth right now! :) The only thing we changed was we used a roasted red pepper italian dressing, but I doubt it made much of a difference. We will certainly be making these again when hunting season comes around!
