I am disability retired ex-computer wizard (how do you spell 'computer'? Started cooking again to pass the time and found that I have a knack for it and really like it. I do a lot of cooking, stews, dinners, breads, desserts, Cajon and southern style, breads, canning of just about everything. I like to experiment with recipes to come up with my own creations.
My favorite things to cook
Breads, pot roasts, chicken, jams, jellies, desserts. I especially enjoy making breads, varieties of stews and pot roasts, and canning of fruits, stews, vegetables, jams and jellies. I am will prepared in case the "Big One" finally hits California - that is, if the jars don't break from the shaking!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with home made, home grown, personalized recipes, using home grown and /or homemade ingredients. Learning new tricks from all who are willing to impart their knowledge. No meal is complete without some kind of bean on the table.
My cooking triumphs
Multi-grain whole wheat bread, cinnamon raisin bread, homemade applesauce and apple butter.
My cooking tragedies
My multi-bean casserole - kidney, red, pinto, lima, great northern, and refried beans to hold them all together. Don't try at home - it didn't work. My 1/2" thick, unintentionally unleavened bread and last but not least, my lemon flavored mashed potatoes.
