About this Cook
I don't really know. I'll start with the fact that, yes I do like cooking, but I love baking more. There's something about a homemade cake that brings alot more happiness than a plate of roasted pork. lol I live in Cleveland (whoop-di-do), and I haven't decided exactly where I wanna go to culinary school yet. My favorite person to cook for is my Boyfriend (Mack), who I've been with for almost a year now. (Although, he blames ME for his weight gain, I deny deny deny.) I love entertaining and having guests, and word spreads pretty quick about my latest 'hot-new-dish'. They end up begging for recipes to serve at their get togethers. :] SO, in a nutshell, I guess I'm alright. Besides being a good chef, I'm also a pretty cool person. But that's the jist. Enjoy. :D
My favorite things to cook
CAKES!! Goodness, I love making cakes. Cookies are alright, but only for special occasions. I like making asian food as well as mexican, because those two genres have the most colors and it makes presentation beautiful.
My favorite family cooking traditions
OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH< I don;t know. I can really only recall one: every year for Thanksgiving, we go over my Aunt Marthas. She makes all the food, the same usually (Turkey, ham, stuffing, etc...). But she makes her famous cheesecake. She's had the recipe for years, and every year she brings out only an 8x8 pan of it. Luckily, she handed it down to me. So now I get to carry on the tradition. <3
My cooking triumphs
I made Taco Soup once. It started out following the recipe...then I strayed from it. I added more of this, some of that, a bag of these...it turned out more of a spicy taco stew! But everyone loved it! Another thing I made was pumpkin cheesecake. I was nervous about it, cause my dad repeated to me the phrase "There are something you just don't mess with...one of them is cheesecake." But he ended up loving it, too, so no sweat. Last one, a red velvet cake I made for Mack. We had only just been a month in to our relationship. I whipped up a two layer red velvet cake with my moms secret icing recipe on top. It's my favorite thing I've made, as well as his. Because when I presented it, not only was it pouring rain (I was in the car), but the only excuse I could come up with was "Happy Tuesday".
My cooking tragedies
Ham and Noodles. Enough Said. This icing I made once from Country Crock spread, because we ran out of REAL butter. (It made it taste what I can only describe as skunky.) Fried chicken. It ended up tasting delicious, but it was an adventure me and Mack just can't forget. :]

Pumpkin Roll Cake
Love it. It has so much flavor. I made two, and they both kind of split at one point when I was rolling the filling in, but that's fine - it's only the first time I made them. I'll get better. Besides, I think The cake I made was a little thicker than it should have been. Not to mention the icing for it was light and not too sweet. It really brought it together nicely. All in all, this was a great recipe. I will definitely make it again.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Squares
I was a little scared to make this because it was for my family, but I'm glad I did. My Aunt Martha (who is the goddess of baking) even said it was absolutely delicious! Here's some tips though: Add a little more pumpkin spice. Not too much to overcome the cheesecake flavor, but to make it really burst in your mouth. Grease the pan (obviously). And cut it TWICE: once about twenty minutes after its baked and setting, and the other time about four hours after you put it in the fridge. It'll help getting it out. The cookie wont stick to the bottom if you let it cool before you pour the pumpkin in. And this tastes wonderful with whipped cream. :] I was going to put a picture up, but everyone snatched it before I could get a piece to myself!

Sugar Cookies
Wonderful! I made these for my boyfriend on Thanksgiving. My dough turned out a little dry, but just add a little milk. I made mine a tad moister because of all the flour you HAVE TO PUT DOWN on the mat and the roller. (but that goes for all cookies) Definitely put it in the freezer for about twenty minutes after you make it, or while your trays are baking. It'll be easier to work with. And only put them in for 6-7 minutes, because then they stay kinda soft in the center. If you really want to make them even more awesome, check out the Sugar Cookie Icing that JBS BOX has up on this site. It works great and definitely compliments the flavor of the cookie.
