I'm just this girl, you know? A lifetime member of the night owl club, I usually do my baking very late at night, while I'm working. I'm a linguist, working at home as an English-Spanish translator. And some of my favorite work projects involve translating recipes and menus.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies!!! (The drop kind, please, I've still not graduated from the school of rolling dough.) Pasta with lots of olive oil and Parmesan. Pizza toast. Roasted potatoes.
My cooking tragedies
I remember this one time, I must've been around 13, when I tried to make lemon bars. It was a complete and utter disaster. The dough was floury and came apart, the filling was a mess, and on top of all that, I broke one of my mom's good crystal platters. That hasn't stopped me from trying to bake a masterpiece, though. One of these days...

Grandma's Homemade Banana Bread
This was super easy to make and turned out much, much better than I expected. I accidentally used double the amount of shortening required (I used two sticks of margarine instead of one, because I got confused thinking that 1 cup = 1 pound = 4 sticks), but this happy mistake gave my bread (more like a cake, really, the bananas give it a dense consistency) into a crunchy golden topping. Serendipity is delicious!!!
