About this Cook
I used to consider myself a "good cook" however my cooking technique had a basic underlying theory: throw it together, season it, and if it healthy I'd call it successful. However after I met my husband I realized I didn't know a thing about cooking. He had a completely different cooking theory: as long as it tasted good and had a good texture he'd eat it. I realized I had just been making baked or sauted fish and chicken, steamed vegetables, soup, and basic desserts (cookies, cakes, pies, etc). I had no clue where to even begin cooking beef, pork, pasta, potatoes, etc. Hence I joined Allrecipes.com where people who really can cook post recipes. Thanks you guys :)
My favorite things to cook
cookies, soup
My cooking triumphs
I'm sure this will continually evolve but I think most recently: Simple Scones (from this website), a chuck roast that fell apart beautifully, and finally making food my husband really likes: Shish Kabobs, cajun potatoes, lasanga, pizzioli poboys, and steak (hopefully I will continually find more to add to that list!).
My cooking tragedies
When I was in Junior High, I made a cake from scratch and added 1/2cup of baking soda instead of 1/2Tbsp. I must have misread the units, but I didn't catch my mistake because of my inexperience. About 10mins after I put the cake in the oven, my grandmother came over. As she passed through the kitchen she tasted the left over batter in the mixing bowl and caught my mistake just in time. The cake had already risen above the baking pan!

Paula's Bread Sticks
awesome. I brushed pesto paste on mine before baking. You can even roll them thinner and twist the ends together for something fun and pretty.

Fresh Pumpkin Pie
I baked my pumpkin until the crust became crispy and I could just peel it off. Next time I will only add 1/2 or 3/4 cup of honey. It was slightly too sweet for me.
