About this Cook
I'm a big food fan. Much of my free time is spent in the kitchen. I get a lot of personal satisfaction from cooking. I also spend a lot of time hanging out with my husband and my daughter. Life is good...
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is the main course -- lasagna or enchiladas, the marinade for grilled meat, and so forth. I love trying new entrees! We eat a lot of fresh vegetables (I'm a health nut) and, when the weather turns cold, I am a homemade soup FANATIC!
My favorite family cooking traditions
After a long work week, I set my health nut ways aside and cook something completely gooey on Friday nights (like chili dogs, pizza, or sloppy joes). I've really come to enjoy this. It's yummy, motivating, and keeps us out of restaurants on Friday nights (so it's gotta be healthier :-)
My cooking triumphs
I have a busy life. Every time my family sits down to a meal made with my hands (no matter how simple or sophisticated), it's a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
During my marriage, there's been about 3 times my husband tried (but could not stomach) a new recipe and got up from the kitchen table to make himself a sandwich. Not bad for 27 years! You really can't blame a hungry guy :-)

Baked Parmesan-Crusted Chicken
We all enjoyed this recipe very much. I used dried thyme, basil, and oregano (instead of fresh) to save money. Oh, and I quadrupled the garlic (yet again :-) The breasts were tender and flavorful. I served them with scalloped potatoes and green beans -- a very nice Sunday meal...

Cranberry Pot Roast
I'm sorry, but this recipe lacked flavor (I followed the directions exactly). I expected much more, because the other raters loved it. I think the 4 hour cooking time made this roast a little tough. (I usually cook this cut for 8 to 10 hours.) But aside from the texture, the meat was bland. My daughter ate hers with a dipping sauce from the fridge, and my husband said he couldn't taste it. I have to agree, it was less than flavorful.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken
This dish was good, but not "knock your socks off" fantabulous. I think prepared teriyaki sauce in a bottle would have been just as good (and cheaper to serve).
