About this Cook
Nothing but Jesus made all the difference.
My favorite things to cook
anything that makes my family go "mmmmmm, make this again!"
My favorite family cooking traditions
cookin southern! (I'm new at it) Kale, collards, sweet potatoes, grits, gumbo... I love it & thanks to allrecipes I'm finding new things all the time to add to these new "traditions".
My cooking triumphs
Canning! I just learned how & so thankful to the incredible experts who taught me how!
My cooking tragedies
Hearkening back to the "early years" when I was still growing, quite hungry, & mom wasn't home to make dinner... I made a turkey sandwich with ketchup, mayo, cheese, pickles... barf. In college, I attemtpted cream-puffs & made "chocolate sauce" by cooking chips in a regular sauce pan & adding H2O. This made lavarock... but in a rush I smeared it on top of my pretty puffs anyway. terrible. In more recent years the tragedies been more "forgetful" than reckless or ignorant. Pudding with sour milk, cookies without eggs, coffee without coffee in the maker (4AM folks). But... the real tragedy was tofu. I still have no idea how to cook that stuff

Katie Lee's Spiced Nuts 'n Chex(R) Mix
:( sad story: I made this tasty recipe, and (surprise) added garlic powder, dried minced onion, pretzels and more cayenne. Microwaved it 2 mins. Stirred. Microwaved 2 mins again… and it burned!!! Watch your stuff- follow the directions. Make sure to stop when it “just begins to turn brown.” Thankfully I only made a half recipe, so I didn’t waste too much, and I was able to salvage some b/c the top was still okay. Still sad though b/c it tasted really good. Will try it again, this time making the full amount and stirring often.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
Thank you for these! They were so soft. All I had was vanilla yoghurt so to compensate I cut out most of the sugar (all but a few tablespoons) and figured the bananas and choco chips would be sweet enough. They turned out good. Tasted nice & healthy too :) which always makes me feel better. esp if I'm using it for breakfast!

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers
I tried to bake them... but peeking in the oven a few minutes in I realized, NO, I'VE GOTTA HAVE THEM FRIED IN FAT. They just would not be the same. So I did and they were delicious. I agree with another reviewer that they were a little on the bland side. I think garlic powder or garlic salt mixed into the cream cheese would do the trick. One more thing, I did blanch my peppers first and for me they were just PERFECTLY spicy. But my husband requires more. He said fill it with jalapeno cheese. hah. I might try that with half of them next time :) Thanks for this recipe! I was so proud to serve these to my husband who adores jalapenos.
