This made my Irish blood smile :)
I cooked the onions and the ham together first as suggested by other reviewers, and boiled the fresh, thickly sliced potatoes in a separate pot while the cabbage simmered. I used 1/2 a can of chicken broth when simmering the cabbage, and the other 1/2 when I added the potatoes. Skipped adding more sodium, added an extra dash of paprika. DELISH!
