About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandparents owned a bakery, so my mom is super-spoiled when it comes to fresh baked goods. There's always something baking at my house! I'm one of four sisters, and we all learned to bake and cook when we were little.
My cooking triumphs
Replicating my mother's chicken soup!
My cooking tragedies
Burning a pot of the same chicken soup -- I put the chicken bones into a huge pot of water at midnight and left the pot of simmering all night on low, and woke up at 6 in the morning to the smell of SERIOUSLY burnt chicken. And when I threw all that out, aired out the house, and began a stew, I forgot all about it after a couple hours and burned THAT too. *shakes head in shame*

Amish White Bread
VERY light and delicious, tastes a lot like the white bread from our bakery!

Gyros Burgers
Delicious! I added 1/2 a teaspoon of crushed red chili flakes because my husband likes things spicy. Instead of making burger-sized patties, I made small flattened meatballs and browned them in a large non-stick skillet. I served these with hummus, lettuce and tomatoes in warm whole-wheat pitas. I will definitely make these again!
