I'm a college student at George Mason University, and I'm poor... Other than that, I love doing what every college kid in America is desperately in love with: EATING! So I'm always on here trying out new things!
My favorite things to cook
I love BAKING more than anything else.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cranberry walnut cookies my mother and I have been making since I was 9. Also, a vegetable soup recipe that's been in my family for generations. It takes about 3 hours to make, but it's great stuff! And a cranberry-apple crisp/tart that my grandmother has been making since she was a girl with her mother. (That South Carolina charm)
My cooking triumphs
Oh wow. I triumphed with the recipes I've found on here! Like the orange pumpkin loaf, Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread, spicy pumpkin soup, turkey chili, apple crisp, and chocolate strawberry shortcake. Armed with my weapons of choice, I win over many mothers with my cooking! ;]
My cooking tragedies
Hmm... well, I've never had a complete tragedy, but I have had plenty of mistakes!
One time, my mom wanted a chocolate cake for her birthday when I was 16, and I got out the cake mix. I followed the directions, but when it came out, the cake was flat and still bubbling. I looked back on the box and the cake mix had expired 4 years ago! Nasty!
