Me and my two babies...
About this Cook
I am a Christian wife and mother of two wonderful children. I am a stay at home mom right now, raising my children to serve and love Jesus in everything that they do. My life is centered around Jesus and my goal is to be the Proverbs 31 woman that he has called me to be for my family.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook desserts. My daughter wants to be a chef when she is older so we love to get together and just try out new recipes... whatever they may be.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hummm... I make an awesome sweet potato casserole that EVERYONE wants at Thankgsgiving and Christmas. It was passed down from my grandmother and my mother even tells me that I make it better than she does! It's because I don't measure anything!!! Holidays are the only time that I make it so when I do, I have to make enough to give to my parents and my brother.
My cooking triumphs
Lol, I think that me learning to cook was a major triumph in itself! When I first got with my husband I could only cook scrambled eggs, hamburger helper, and anything that only required heating in a microwave! My mother in law took me to the side and taught me how to cook like a true southern woman! I thank her so much for doing that, I was truly blessed and I miss her. She has gone home to be with the LORD, but I will see her again!
My cooking tragedies
Oh... there are so many! I have the soupy french toast, the many burnt potroasts and chicken... Oh, most recently, I tried my hand at stir fry! Never again for me! I almost burned down the kitchen!!! Water and oil DO NOT go toegether in stir fry!!! Thank God my dear husband was there to take control of the situation! Otherwise, we would all be homeless right now!

Taco Bake II
I have tried several different recipes for Taco Bake when I found this one. My family loved it! Even the kids, and you know how picky they can be. The only thing that I changed was that I had some salsa and put a layer of salsa on the first layer. Next time, I am going to use the smaller tortilla chips because it was a little hard to cut through the bottom tortillas. I also put an extra layer of sour cream on the layers. This is the recipe that I will keep though. It was a huge hit!

Turkey Florentine
This is a good way to use up that left over turkey. The kids weren't too fond of it, but it was a huge hit with the husband. I thought that it was pretty good. It was missing something though, and I can't quite put my finger on it. I think that I will just save this for an after Thanksgiving thing. Oh well, can't win 'em all...

Grandma B's Bean Soup
This was the best bean soup that I have had in a long time! I did alter it a bit, I didn't use carrots or celery because my kids won't eat it if they see carrots. I used another's suggestion of the 2 cans of chicken broth and instead of onions, I used 2 TBSP. of minced onions. It still gave the flavor, without the chunks of onion... kids won't eat it if there are onions! They LOVED it!!! I had so much that I took some to my neighbor and they said it was the best bean soup that they have had in a long time. Thanks for the recipe! I will be making this again!!!
