About this Cook
I'm artistic, but I get bored with conventional methods of expressing myself. I'm always looking for a new medium. I've learned that I can create beautiful things using less conventional methods like gardening/landscaping, and certainly, cooking. Now, I never get bored!
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill, especially a good steak. I also enjoy cooking Italian. Sushi is my favorite food, but I am admittedly still a beginner when it comes to preparing it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom, twin sister, and I (along with any of our friends who wanted to join us) would get together to make loads of Christmas cookies using all kinds of recipes. We have a "secret" family punch recipe that we would mix up first. Needless, to say, by the time the cookies were finished, we were all a little tipsy and having the time of our lives! Everyone got to take home a combination of all the cookies and they would last all through the holidays. I really miss that tradition.
My cooking triumphs
That's hard to pin down. I love to entertain, and nothing gives me more gratification than to hear a table full of people I care about raving over the meal I've prepared.
My cooking tragedies
Fixed Grilled Porterhouse steaks Sunday night using a recipe from this site. It called for a blue cheese, butter, and chive spread, that everyone raved about. I love blue cheese and decided to try this recipe. The steaks came out great, however, I was very disappointed with the blue cheese spread. After sampling, no one used it.

Toad In a Hole
Easy and delicious. I've been making these since I was a kid myself. We always referred to them as Eggs in a Nest. I prefer to omit the cheese.

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce
Wish I could rate 3.5. I liked the sauce, but instead of complimenting the heat/spiciness of the cajun fish, I felt like it competed with it. Almost like the creator couldn't decide whether to go fresh lemon/dill or cajun with the fish preparation. However, the sauce went beautifully with the asparagus I served on the side. Used light mayo & sour cream and was still very nice.

Easy Texas Chili
Just threw it together in the crock pot with very few changes. I used fresh garlic, & only 2 cans of beans. Instead of regular pinto beans I used 1 can flavored with slab bacon and 1 can of chili beans. The flavor is already wonderful. Have a feeling this will be amazing come tomorrow. Might need to add more heat then. Might be too thick. *Next day afted on low all night in crockpot. This chili is just right in texture and thickness. Added about 1-1/2 tsp sugar to take away some acidity and added about 1 tsp smoked paprika. This chili is AWESOME!!! Ate it for breakfast cuz I couldn't wait. LOL
