About this Cook
I am a woman of strength and love and patience. I have a wonderful daughter that is my rock! and my teacher. She has Cerebal Palsy and is Deaf. She is 36 yrs old. Her name is Tina.I get so exhausted sometimes as I get older taking care of her needs. But then 5 minutes laters she makes me smile . I love you Tina, When the angels had that meeeting to decide which parent Tina would be sent to? I am glad they chose me. Yeah sure I would Love to have a long vacation to get revivied. I know it is hard for someone to watch her. That would be wonderful to have a person to take care of her for a few times a month . But That is life.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have been cooking most of my life. My family would have gatherings all the time.We would all gather at a family members home outside under a garage or patio.Bring sacks of fresh oysters,Boil some shrimp fresh off the boat.Add Koolaid to drink for the kids, beer for the adults.Finish this off with fresh corn and lots of salad. In the winter there was Hamburger Hash or every Type of Gumbo under the sun with rice.Red Beans and rice was a huge thing also. Now Listen up people.I am not takling about those red kindey bean things.YUK... they are called small red beans. If you walk down the dried bean aisle in Beaumont you can't miss em..They are not as easy to find in other parts of the Country.Ask for it at your local grocery store. Add onions,Garlic, pepper salt and touch of sugar.Save plenty of juice reserved to pour over rice and side it with cornbread, I swear you will have to say Dang that is good!
