About this Cook
I have one daughter and three grandchildren two cats and a wonderful life partner! I am an ordained minister and Interfaith teacher and have facilitated retreats for groups of around 15 and done all of the cooking as well as facilitating the workshops.
My favorite things to cook
I love to experiment with new things and rarely cook the same thing exactly the same way twice. We eat mostly chicken, fish and lamb and I'm always looking for new ways to fix these main dishes. We don't eat dairy or wheat, so, I'm constantly looking for wheat free/dairy free dishes or making up my own new ones.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year for the Holidays I make tarts. It has taken a long time to come up with a GOOD pie crust recipe that is wheat free - but, I've finally accomplished it and my tarts are raved about! I fill them with any homemade pie filling you can name and our favorites are pumpkin, pecan, cherry, lemon and peach. Traditional main dishes are Pork and Sauerkraut for New Years and Thanksgiving wouldn't be right without my Mom's scalloped corn casserole.
My cooking triumphs
The best wheat free pie crust you've ever tasted. I made tarts recently and used some of the left over pie crust to create a Shepherd's Pie with ground lamb sausage, carrots, potatoes, onions, and peas with a rosemary sauce thickened with arrowroot that was awesome! My sweetie said "Let's have that again sometime!"
My cooking tragedies
My biggest tragedies are when I am in a hurry, or trying to do too many things at once and burn something and have nothing to replace it with!

Quick Fudge Icing
If you follow the recipe and bring it to a rolling boil, then continue to cook for 2 more minutes, it comes out nice and fudgey. It was thick enough to spread on the sides of my german chocolate cake with the german chocolate icing filling the layers and on top. Turned out very pretty
