Our family of 9 is always so happy to hear it is tomato soup day at our house since I found this recipe! My 6-year-old son says this is a "million star" soup. (They often rate the new recipes I try.) For cost savings and to serve our large family I buy one of those huge cans of tomato sauce at Sam's club and use that. (gallon size?) I have also used dried basil and it still tastes great. I serve with grilled or toasted cheese sandwiches and a salad. Yum! Yum!

I love tomato soup and have tried several recipes. This was my favorite so far. I think that having both the chicken broth and cream was the "secret". Yummy!

My husband and all 7 of my children loved this dish! I have been trying out different recipes and asking my children how many stars they give each recipe. My 6-year-old son said, "Mom, I give this 1,000 stars!" We especially loved the crust, and I agree with the last review - make sure and use a large dish.
