I am a mother to 5 sons and one spoiled American Bulldog. I am an avid hunter and fisherman and love to cook outdoors. I enjoy canning, so I am into gardening indoors and out. When time permits I love to watch the Food Network channel.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort foods... fried chicken, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade noodles or dumplings, fresh biscuts, corn bread, chili, chicken noodle soup, beef stew, tapioca pudding, gooey butter cakes and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cookies on all the holidays, fresh pies and cakes with each meal.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to make homemade noodles and pie dough just like grandma made!
My cooking tragedies
Turkey gravy for my first Thanksgiving holiday with the in-laws was a disaster! I used the same amount of corn starch as I would have flour for thickening the turkey broth and it ended up being the consistancy of spackling paste... only thicker! My mother in law hurried and made new gravy without missing a beat. She was my life saver!
