About this Cook
Used to work in the food industry (years ago) so LOVE cooking, but like to make everything from scratch. Also like to try to recreate a dish I had "out" someplace because I like to feed people in my home.
My favorite things to cook
For my family, and to try new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Dinner at home around the table w/a full on table setting. Yes, you get china & cloth napkins everynight. Yes, it seems outdated. No, it's not stuffy at all we laugh and get loud TALKING - it's what we DO!
My cooking triumphs
Getting two children to grow up liking nee' LOVING to eat their vegetables!
My cooking tragedies
My first batch of sweet pickles - BOMBED!!! I had an incomplete recipe that I was using and wasn't sure when in the rather involved process to can and cook them! Found someone with pickling experience and the second batch was AWESOME!

Sweet And Sour Glazed Chicken
I made the sauce (w/o the pkg of onion soup - too salty!) and added 1 clove crushed garlic and finely chopped onion instead and stirred them all together - then nuked it in the microwave. We put this over Turkey Meatballs (yep - the frozen store-bought kind) which had already been heated in the Microwave. Poured the sauce over the top of those and heated it for a couple minutes more. Served it with rice and got rave reviews from the family. It was AWESOME, and only took me about 10 minutes to make (not including the rice) and we LOVED the Russion Dressing and Apricot Preserves though - was an excellent "base" to get the right "sticky-ness" and flavor for the sauce.
