About this Cook
Married almost 16 years to the great love of my life. 2 sons ages 8 and 12. I have a lot of hobbies but took up the art of stained glass about 10 years ago and love it! After being diagnosed with breast cancer in February of 2008 I learned a lot about myself and my priorities. I am doing great and want to help others who face this disease. I want them to know it can be beaten and you can live life again with more appreciation and blessings than you could imagine!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Especially desserts. I try new dishes a lot. I would like to learn to decorate cakes although I do pretty good winging it on my own :) My husband is also a great cook so we share a lot of the cooking duties.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always loved my Mother's gravy. I have yet to master the way she makes it.
My cooking triumphs
Almost getting my gravy to taste just like my Mom's. Anytime I cook something new my very picky 8 year old son will eat.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married I made meatloaf. It was right after the whole Mad Cow disease thing came to light. I wanted to make sure I cooked it thoroughly so we didn't get "the Mad Cow". I cooked it so long that it felt like a brick and even our dog wouldn't eat it LOL That was the only thing my wonderful husband has ever refused to eat that I cooked.

Baked Ziti
This recipe was easy and tasted wonderful. It wasn't too dry, saucy or cheesy with just the right proportions of ingredients. The recipe says it makes 6 servings but there was plenty left over( I have a family of 4) to freeze and save for an on the go weeknight. I didn't have any freshly grated Parmesan so I used the the kind that you shake out of the plastic container and it still turned out great. Even my picky 8 year old went back for seconds. That makes it a huge hit in my book! I will absolutely make this again.
