My favorite family cooking traditions
I make X-mas cookies every year for our neighbors and friends about 8 different kind. I always get the containers back with the expectation that there will be more next year.
My cooking triumphs
I love to alter recipes given to me and make them my own. I've been known to take two or three recipes and make a forth one out of them. My hubby and sister hate when they try to ask me how I made it and I can't give them the exact mesurements.
My cooking tragedies
When I was first married, I forgot and left the giblet bag in the turkey one holiday. Oh and I was raised on fresh bullhead fish.The "boyz" would hand them to me after cleaning them to be cooked. I once bought bullhead from a store and took it home, breaded them up to be deep fried. What I didn't realize is that they leave the gutts in them. YUCK!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast
This is all of what they say, easy and delisious. My family and extended family loved it. I was sceptical about not putting any fluids in at all but it was soooo juicey. I didn't do it in the crock pot though, the turkey breast I bought was to big for my pot, so I did it in the oven in a turkey bag. I followed the direction for the bag and added flour.

Colleen's Potato Crescent Rolls
Other than taking a long time to let rise, this recipe was easy and tasty. Defiantly not a quick bread, but my family loved them! The ones I made with cinnamon and sugar, my daughter suggested putting the melted butter and filling on the inside before rolling up, like a cinnamon roll, so that it is through out the crescent. You know, it's going to be good when you can't keep the kids out of the dough while it's rising. The recipe makes a lot so it's great for a large gathering. I loved the ideal in one of the reviews to use a pizza cutter to cut the wedges, it worked wonderfully. I used leftover mashed, red potatoes with the skins on. They worked out great and it gave them a little something else to chew on. We would defiantly make them again but maybe save it for special occasions due to the lengthy process.

Chickpea and Couscous Delight
I made this for a PTO luncheon at our school. I had mixed reviews about it though. I did alter it as sujested the extra oil was a must. I used the seasoned couscous and used chix. broth. I added basil, cilantro, parmesano and minced garlic. As for the vinegar I had white on hand but not quite anough so I topped my measurment off with cider vinegar,so I'm wondering if that was it. My family seemed to like the left overs. It was easy enough that I do plan to try it again with the basalmic w/maybe a bite of sugar to cut the taste. Thanks, it was great for a last minute dish.
