About this Cook
I'm 26 and living in BC with my boyfriend of 7 years, Colin, and our 2 cats, Dexter and Rogue. I love living in BC and though I miss my family, I do NOT miss the Saskatchewan weather!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, specifically. I'm toying with the idea of taking some basic baking courses as well as some cake decorating courses and opening up my own cake decorating shop. As far as standard cooking goes, though, I love cooking pasta dishes. The simple, classic Italian kind, with olive oil and fresh herbs. Simple and oh-so delicious!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hm ... I'm not sure about the cooking traditions in my family. I must remember to check with my mother about that!
My cooking triumphs
The very first time I successfully cooked a duck on my own! It was my first Thanksgiving (Colin's too) on my own and I wanted to do something different. The duck turned out amazing, and I was so proud of myself!
My cooking tragedies
Ugh ... that would have to be the creamy potato soup I attempted to make in a slow cooker. I was very new to cooking and no one told me that you couldn't bring milk up to a boil slowly. Colin and I have never been so sick! It was awful! I still shudder when I think about it, and that was years ago!

Chicken Puffs
I have made these so many times! They are so easy and an instant hit whenever I make them. I've done so many variations, as well, using other meats, seasonings, vegetables ... they're great every time!

Basic British Scones
This recipe was so easy to do! I've made them twice for afternoon tea with more requests for them in the future. I've passed it along to my mother and mother-in-law with great feedback! Fantastic!

Grandma's Brown Sugar Drop Cookies
Easy to make, but had a very strong taste of baking powder. I don't think I'll be making these again.
